A very mild Winter gave way to an early Spring for the mountain garden near Chain Lake, BC. We dropped to about -30C twice, beginning in mid-November, and a heavy snowstorm invearly January dropped at least two feet of new snow on top of the 18 inches that was already there.
On November 16, we were still snow-free but the temperature was in the range of -25C overnight. I had coppiced most shrubs or at least pruned them hard, to avoid them being crushed by snow.By November 25, it was beginning to look a lot like Christmas...
Over the course of January 3,4 and 5, something in the range of 2 feet of snow fell in one massive event!

Whoa, by March 8th, these South facing slopes were already free of snow. Gives me an idea... More on that in a later post.
March 8, 2015 - Hayes Creek is no longer a solid sheet of ice!
March 24, 2015 - the garden and property are approaching snow-free status at least 3 weeks earlier than usual!
