Well it hasn't been a really cold winter, with only two or three trips down to -30C or so, but we had an additional 125cm of snow fall between February 10 and February 28, crushing any hopes I had for an early Spring. These photos were all taken between February 25 and March 3, showing a pretty significant snowpack on my garden beds and for scale, my dad's Dodge Ram 250. That 125cm fell on top of the 50cm or so that was there at Christmas / New Years. It didn't make a 175cm total snowpack - it all kind of just settled into a solid four foot layer. The kind that takes a long time to melt!
The good news this Spring is that it looks like I will be making a trip down to Colorado in late March. With any luck, I'll be able to do some botanizing in higher elevation locales with Jeff Thompson and his wife Marie. That is, of course, if the snow situation down there isn't just like mine up here!
